RULES OF PLAY Each side has (8) eight players on the court which are:- 1 Full Forward- 1 Full Back- 6 Centre Players The game will consist of 4 nine (9) minute quarters. - Full Forwards (FF) & Full Backs (FB) MUST be standing in the Semi Circle at each end of the court at the start of each quarter.- The Full Forward must stand on the mark on the line above the Semi Circle for ALL kick outs after a goal or a behind. - Neither Full Forward nor Full Back is permitted to cross the halfway line of the court. Centre Players (C) cannot enter the Semi Circle at all during any time of the game.*A free kick shall be awarded to the nearest player at the top of the Semi Circle if it is to occur AGAINST a defender*A free kick shall be awarded to the Full Back at the top of the Semi Circle if it is to occur AGAINST a Forward No Contact,No Bumping,No Pushing,No Tackling,No Shepherding GAME PLAY The game begins with the umpire tossing the ball up in the middle of the court. Ruckman will stand with one foot on the toss up line, they will contest the jump ball e.g.: Basketball (with both Ruckman facing the opposite way to their teams scoring end.)- The ball cannot be grabbed or punched with a clenched fist – only with an open hand, both in Ruck contest & general play at all times. I.e.: Spoiling.- During play all ball ups must be doing the same way when a quarter starts.- FF & FB cannot contest ANY ball up contests.- A valid mark from a kick can be of any distance.- Valid disposals consist of kicking or handballing – which is of an under shoulder motion NOT an over arm motion.Breaching of the will be a free kick to the opposition.- Every player has 4 seconds to dispose of the ball – There will be no bouncing of the ball & a free kick shall apply if this is to happen.- Any player using his feet on the net or bouncing off it in any way to win the ball or off the play will be penalized.SCORING- Scoring is only allowed from the attacking half of the court (middle of the court).- Only the Full Back (FB) cannot score, breach of this rule is a free kick from the centre circle. Scoring system Goal from centre player (6 points)Behind from the centre player (1 point)Behind from Full Forward (1 point)Goal from Full forward (8 points)Any goal from a full Forward is awarded 8 points.- A goal is scored when the ball hits the goal scoring zone without touching the posts directly from the foot (below the knee) of a player. - A behind is scored from a kick hitting the post OR into the Behind zone on the nets.- After any score any player can kick the ball out (any distance) the Full Forward must stand on the mark in the allocated box before play can start , standing in the box – a 15 metre penalty can be awarded to the Full Back if the FF does not comply to the umpire instructions. MARKING- When a player marks the ball, the opposing player standing the mark must stand it immediately ,if after 2 requests this is not done, the offending player can be penalized and a 15 metre penalty can be awarded to the opposing team.- The ball rebounding off the net and completed as a mark from a kick is still stated as a completed mark.- There is no minimum distance a player has to kick for his teammate to take a completed mark.- Any player running backwards with the flight of the ball can not be interfered with – If the umpire deems contact IS MADE then a free kick will be awarded. - If player from behind is either stationary or cannot get out of the way of the player running back with the fight of the ball – then it is still deemed as a free kick. *YOU ARE RESPONSIBLE TO GET OUT OF THE WAY IF YOU ARE 2ND IN LINE TO A MARKING CONTEST & MAKE NO SUFFICENT ATTEMPT AT A MARK ,IF YOU CHOOSE TO CONTEST, THEN YOU RUN THE RISK OF CONTACT & FREE KICK AWARDED WILL BE AWARDED AGAINST YOU,UNLESS YOU CAN TAKE A “CLEAN MARK” - If a player marks a ball from behind and the umpire deems NO contact is made with the player in front – then the umpire will award a “clean mark” - The awarded mark is ALWAYS at the umpire’s discretion. PLAYER INTERCHANGE - Interchange of players can be done at any time during the quarter.- Injured players can be interchanged at any time – by notifying the umpire.- Only 2 interchange players max are permitted per team, per game.- Any team found with more than 8 on the court at all times will lose all of their points for the game. BLOOD RULE- A player bleeding must be immediately interchanged & cannot return until bleeding is controlled and or taped, bandaged up, cleaned and or covered up PLAYER MATCHING TOPS - Every team must have the same matching tops ,whether it be colored T-Shirts, football Guernsey’s or Bibs that the team owns and can purchase.- Numbers ARE OPTIONAL must be iron-on or sow on numbers- Each player must have a different number- 3 weeks grace will be given to make sure this is correct – after this 1 goal penalty for EACH player that does not have a matching top.- Umpires will enforce this. FREE KICKS All players must be aware that indoor football is strictly NON-CONTACT and the rules are designed to keep the game fast free flowing and enjoyable for all involved.No BumpingNo PushingNo TacklingNo Shepherding - A free Kick will be awarded against any player who makes a deliberate or accidental contact on an opponent. Whether it is body on body or a slap of the hand to arms or wrists.- If two players attempt to contact then the more aggressive of the 2 will be penalized or the umpire may feel that a jump ball is more appropriate.- Contact is also defined as contact on a player not in possession of the ball.- The infringing player MUST be the player to stand on the mark.- A free kick will awarded if any player enters the semi circle if they are NOT the FB or FF- A Free Kick will be awarded if the FB or FF runs over the halfway line of the court.- A free Kick will be awarded if a player has one or both knees on the ground when disposing of the ball – the player must be standing on his feet.- A Free Kick will be awarded if the player deliberately kicks the ball of the ground or if by accident as well. *The umpire will determine this by anything that comes of the leg BELOW THE KNEE*- A Free Kick will be awarded if the player plays his own ball after his own kick or Handball.* However Its is “Play On” if a ball gets smothered by hand or foot*- A play on “Advantage Rule” can be paid by the controlling umpire only if he/she decides that the team would be DISADVANTAGED by taking his kick over the mark.- (ONLY THE UMPIRE HAS THIS DISCRESSION & DESPUTES BY PLAYER WILL NOT BE TOLERATED BY BOTH SIDES – 15 METRE PENELTIES & REVERSAL OF FREE KICKS DO APPLY)- 15 metre penalties apply for any decision upon the umpires feel necessary - ANY abusive language or Swearing towards opposition players, umpire or spectators will NOT be tolerated. Free Kicks,15 metre penalties & send off’s can be used by the umpires at their discretion. LIST OF CHARGES
RED AND YELLOW CARDS - All umpires will carry two warning cards (Red & Yellow)- A Yellow Card will be issued by umpires for certain breaches of the game rules & policies i.e.: Undue rough play, swearing & unsportsmanlike behavior etc…- The offending player will be sent from the court for the reminder of the quarter (if it is within the final 4 minutes of the quarter then another 3 minutes must be sat out of the following quarter.- A 2nd Yellow card during the game will call for the player to leave the court for the remainder of the game.- A Red Card will be issued by umpires for certain breaches of the game rules & policies i.e.: Undue rough play,swearing,Fighting,Threat of an umpire or opposition players & unsportsmanlike behavior etc…- Once a player has been Red carded they will be immediately sent from the court and will receive 1 match suspension for the following week (possibly increased at managements discretion)- Any player sent from the court with either a Red or Yellow card cannot be replaced.- Any Card infringement will be recorded and kept for future reference during the season, a combination of 5 of any color will be an automatic disqualification of that player for the season & possible future seasons. MARKING OF PLAYERS NAMES & QUALIFICATION- All teams MUST pay the full amount owed for game fee of $120 BEFORE PLAY- IF YOUR TEAM FORFEITS ANY MATCH THEY WILL BE REQUIRED TO PAY THE FULL FEE OF $120 THE FOLLOWING WEEK.- Ticking or Marking off of players is the sole responsibility of the Captain.- After paying ,the Captain will have his team clipboard presented to him by one of the umpires on the court – he will sign the Scorecard- The captain will then nominate the players that are present and playing to the umpire so he can tick the correct name for qualification.- The umpire’s then know that the game is ready to commence with teams paid up & marked off correctly- This process can be quickly and efficiently done during the course of the Captains teams’ warm up time.- If a player plays a 2nd game on the same night of competition as a fill-in for another side during fixtured rounds,he will only be marked down for (1) team as Qualified on the night. (Thus making the player free to FILL-IN but only be qualified for one team.)However he can play on another team on another night of competition. (This process is in place to stop Captains of ticking the whole team at one time & Ticking incorrect players that are not present in the hope of qualifying a stronger illegitimate team in finals.) Violence – of any form will not be tolerated and the management reserves the right to ban players/teams from indoor football.The Umpire calls the game as he sees it.The umpire’s decision is final |
